Commissioned by the Queenstown Lakes District Council, the Stoney Creek Carpark Footbridge in Wanaka was designed by Stantec and fabricated by Recreation Construction. The bridge features a combination of steel, timber, and stainless steel, ensuring durability and seamless integration into its lakeside surroundings.

Fabrication took place in Recreation Construction’s Oamaru workshop, where the steel and timber components were carefully assembled before being transported to site. Stainless steel elements were supplied by Apex Engineering, a local Oamaru company. The completed bridge was then delivered by R&R Transport and precisely lifted into place using a crane, ensuring a seamless installation onto its prepared abutments. The bridge was successfully installed in mid-2024, providing a durable and functional crossing for the Wanaka community.

This project highlights the successful collaboration between design, fabrication, and installation teams, delivering a high-quality, long-lasting bridge that enhances accessibility and functionality for the area.
